I’ve been told repeatedly this week that I need to get out of my head. I’m not sure if this counts, but I’m listing four things I’m looking forward to in April:
1. The South Shore 1/2 Marathon tomorrow morning in Milwaukee. Yes, TOMORROW morning! This is by far the most inexpensive race I have ever signed up for, a whopping $14.00, and it’s still chip timed! It basically fits into my training plan for Wisconsin Marathon with my 20 miler coming up next weekend. And the best part will be to meet up with some cheesehead Twitter folk that I chat with on a regular basis. (Hi Renee, Hi Jeff, Hi Sara, Hi Rasberi!!)
2. The 20 miler. Yup, looking forward to it. I’m not sure if I’m looking forward to it as finally being done with the scary long run distances in training, or if I’m actually looking forward to three and a half hours of Madison scenery by foot. What I do know for sure is that I’m looking forward to indulging on a Cadbury Egg afterwards.
3. Getting my braces off. It’s scheduled for next Thursday. I’ve heard stories of people going in to get them taken off but a tooth slips out of place and it needs to be rescheduled. I will DIE if that happens to me, seriously, dramatically, absolutely die if that happens. It’s been three years, I’m 30 years old, I’m too old for this!
4. The taper. Really. I’m looking forward to pissing and moaning on Twitter about phantom pains, about OMG-I-WANT-TO-RUN, the last minute freak-outs, etc. Remind me of this post when you see me have a taper-tantrum.
